IT Sales & Bid Manager – Oldbury, Birmingham

IT Sales & Bid Manager required for a global organisation in Oldbury, where you will be responsible for working with the sales, bid and portfolio teams to identify potential opportunities for innovation. You will play a key part in developing proposals for clients that highlight the benefits and opportunities of the companies existing and emerging technologies, as well as ensuring the content of bids accurately reflect the current and future capabilities of the organisation’s technology solutions.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within IT sales and bid management, and be comfortable working in a challenging and changeable environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Proactively engaging with the sales and bid teams to create compelling technology proposals for bid documentation that demonstrates the organisations capability to meet documented client requirements in a contemporary manner
  • Collaborating with the wider IT team as required to ensure alignment to IT strategy, architecture, principles and ongoing service management of proposals
  • Liaising with sales/bid team colleagues to understand common requirements and inform the required content of the portfolio that will support them
  • During negotiations on successful bids, provide a high-level overview and indicative, costings and timelines to the mobilisation teams, using the technology proposals you developed to support the bids
  • Identifying and managing risks, issues and gaps associated with the bid process. Working with colleagues to address these and escalate where it is necessary to do so
  • Reporting regularly on progress to relevant governance forums and bodies
  • Working with the business and clients to create a high-level solution overview that is then reviewed and agreed within the IT governance forums
  • Review existing IT bid processes and work to improve this to a fully digitalised state that connects with the wider IT operating model

Key Skills of the Role:

  • Extensive experience working in sales or bid management or technical pre-sales with a strong background in technology
  • Ideal to have experience in the following technical areas:
    • Salesforce
    • ESBs
    • Electronic Forms
    • Reporting and Analytics
    • Mobile Applications
    • Internet of Things
  • Track record of delivering world class bid solutions within a large, complex commercial operation where flexibility and value for money are key success factors
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to client requirements and to bring new ideas to the Architecture team for consideration
  • Strong planning and organising skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously
