Infrastructure Engineer – VMWare/Networks – Burton-On-Trent

Infrastructure Engineer required for an established organisation based in Burton on Trent, where you will be responsible to provide IT network and infrastructure support to ensure systems and services perform effectively. You will be required to participate in both ‘business as usual’ and project activities to provide expert guidance and support on infrastructure issues.

The ideal candidate will be a competent infrastructure engineer with a background in networking.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

• Monitor system performance via relevant dashboards, highlighting any amber issues and taking action on red issues
• Complete daily infrastructure checks to ensure critical processes and back-ups have been successful
• Aim to future proof systems by installing upgrades and modifications which will allow the company to grow and expand its patient base
• Provide guidance and maintenance of Active Directory services, physical data centre hardware, virtual and physical network services and any other infrastructure related software and services
• Act as a subject matter expert on IT infrastructure within the organisation, and support any projects with infrastructure input as required
• Liaise with 3^rdparty suppliers such as Microsoft, for technical support and assistance on their products and services
• Attend to any infrastructure related service desk tickets within agreed timelines
• Create and update detailed technical, security and solution design documents

Key Skills of the role:

• Able to accurately convey technical detail in a non-technical manner to staff outside of the IT department
• As comfortable working alone as in a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a logical and methodical approach to work
• Able to identify opportunities for efficiencies and future proofing
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
• Flexible and adaptable to change
• Take part in the out of hours support rota to support 24×7
• Currently work in an infrastructure environment with in-depth knowledge of firewalls, switching, routing and VLANs
• Experience in working with load balancing technologies
• Experience in blending off-the-shelf and bespoke software
• It would be desirable for you to be certified in VMware

Salary

The salary for this position is between £38,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
