Lead Desktop & Apps Support Analyst – Windows10/O365 – Birmingham

Lead Desktop & Application Support Engineer required for a global organisation based in Birmingham, where you will be responsible for the implementation, provision and support of all IT services. As part of the desktop & application team, you will be required to provide ownership for the design, development, operation and full lifecycle of all desktop infrastructure, providing 3rd line support across Office365 and several bespoke applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Windows10 and Office365, and extensive experience gained in an IT support/service delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Daily hands on support, engineering and management of desktop infrastructure, and all related components
  • Track incidents, issues and request while looking for opportunities to introduce efficiencies
  • Undertake project related work with regards to desktop infrastructure and application deployments
  • Assisting with transition of any activities from projects to service delivery
  • Support and develop skills of other team members in this area of expertise
  • Work with the desktop and applications manager, ensuring objectives and priorities are aligned with the business’ vision
  • Deputise for the desktop and applications manager and support the team in attaining operational goals
  • Support continuous improvement of the IT application systems

Key Skills of the role:

  • Experience with Office365, Exchange and SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive
  • Strong experience with Windows 10, both build and development
  • Management of desktop security tools such as anti-virus, anti-malware and VPN technologies
  • Microsoft SCCM – patching, Windows OS Desktop and Laptop Image creations
  • Knowledge of project delivery cycles and frameworks
  • Knowledge and understanding of application packaging and virtualisation
  • Experience of working with external supplies, including offshore development teams
  • Confident in dealing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Scripting exposure, predominantly with PowerShell
