A well‑established environmental consultancy and software business is seeking a diligent Finance Accounts Manager to join its friendly Wallingford team. This is a key role supporting the smooth running of the company’s financial operations. The working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate, with contracted hours of 24–26 per week, including Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you’ll take ownership of a broad range of accounting and financial administration tasks, including:
Monthly Accounting
- Preparing, issuing and managing all project invoicing
- Managing invoicing schedules and liaising with project managers
- Processing and reconciling ecommerce sales uploads to Sage
- Credit control and debtor management
- Processing supplier invoices and employee expenses
- Completing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate banking records
- Processing and reconciling company credit card transactions
- Conducting regular bank checks and supporting cash‑flow forecasting and monitoring
Payroll
- Liaising with the payroll provider and ensuring HMRC compliance
- Managing workplace pension processes and auto‑enrolment requirements
Quarterly & Annual Responsibilities
- Producing quarterly and annual management accounts
- Liaising with external accountants and HMRC
- Managing VAT returns and statutory submissions
- Identifying opportunities to improve finance systems and processes
- Supporting profitability analysis across business areas
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in an accounts or finance role
- Experience within an SME environment
- AAT Level 3 (or equivalent) minimum
- Strong credit control experience
- Advanced knowledge of Sage 50 Professional and strong Excel skills
- Solid understanding of the Chart of Accounts
- Experience with payroll and pension administration (highly advantageous)
- Availability during key financial periods (July, August, and quarter‑end months: January, April, October)
