We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Workshop Technician for our client in Montrose.
Description
Pay Rate: £19.52 - £22.60
Hours: 7am – 4.15 Monday to Thursday 7am to midday Friday
OT: x1.5 apart from Saturday where it is x2 after 4 hrs and 2x Sunday
Duration: 9 months with possibility of extension or perm
Location: Montrose
Some travel may be required
As Workshop Electrician, you will be responsible for the repair and inspection of NOV Rig equipment. As part of our Rig Technologies, Aftermarket repair group you will make recommendations to planning team / customers to ensure equipment is returned in good operational condition. As Workshop Electrician, you will react to ‘rig down’ situations as top priority on products ranging from Rig Floor Equipment (RFE), Legacy National Equipment (NOI) and Pressure Control Equipment (PCE).
Duties & Responsibilities
-Repair, overhaul, inspect and identify faults on Rig Equipment
-Report and update relevant documentation including inspection reports, parts lists
-Read and interpret engineering drawings/schematics to identify and correct faults, redline drawings/schematics
-Collaborate with key stakeholders including Customers, Colleagues and other entities
-Escalate key faults or product failures to relevant department and progress through to resolution
-Promote HSE plans and support the continuous developing of internal policy
-Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and customers
-Inspects equipment for conformance with operational standards
-Respond to emergency calls for Rig Down situations when required
-Collaborate with management, engineering, quality and HSE personnel to resolve problems with equipment and recommend measures to improve the operation and condition of the equipment
-Where necessary, liaise closely with other operational teams to ensure continuous improvement of all systems and processes.
-Keep up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all HSE legislation and any developments that affect our industry
-Carry out fault finding, repair and recommendations in a timely manner without compromising safety or quality
-Be aware of and adhere to HSE requirements whilst working in repair facilities
-Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected
-Travel when required on an ad-hoc basis as and when dictated by business/customer need

-HNC in a relevant electrical qualification or equivalent
Exeprience:
Essential:
-Working knowledge of overhaul, fault finding and repair of heavy machinery or in an automation field
-Working knowledge of AC & DC Power Systems, VFD’s, hydraulics/pneumatics within eg FMCG manufacturing environments
-Working knowledge within a similar position either on / offshore
Skills, training or special knowledge:
Essential:
-Understanding of engineering documents and drawings (e.g. be able to read P&IDs, ISO drawings, calculation reports etc. and be able to extract useful information for design)ranging from Rig Floor Equipment (RFE), Legacy National Equipment (NOI) and Pressure Control Equipment (PCE).
This will be an initial 9 x month temporary contract, with the view to either be extended or go perm.
