Legal Secretary – Conveyancing
Location: Winchester
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (Depending on Experience)
We are currently seeking an experienced Legal Secretary with a background in Commercial Conveyancing to join a reputable and well-established law firm located in the heart of Winchester. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive and dynamic team, working in beautiful office in a prime location.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting fee earners with their daily caseloads, ensuring the smooth running of conveyancing transactions from instruction through to completion. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organised, and possess a strong understanding of the conveyancing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with clients both in person and over the telephone, providing assistance and taking accurate messages
- Managing the opening, closure, and archiving of client files
- Supporting the conveyancing team with paperwork, completion processes, and general file management
- Drafting and producing accurate correspondence and legal documentation using digital dictation
- Preparing and submitting accounts paperwork and processing client transactions
- Undertaking general administrative duties including photocopying, scanning, printing, faxing, and filing
- Preparing and dispatching legal documents and client correspondence
- Issuing client care letters via email or post
- Providing quotes and information to prospective clients in a professional and timely manner
- Booking appointments, managing diaries, and reserving meeting rooms as required
- Closing files efficiently, ensuring all balances are accounted for and appropriate communications are issued
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within a conveyancing or property department
- Strong knowledge of the conveyancing process from start to finish
- Accurate and fast audio typing and copy typing skills
- Competency in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook (PowerPoint is a plus)
- Experience working with case management systems
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
- High standard of written and verbal communication
- A proactive approach and the ability to work well under pressure

- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 5:00pm
