Role Purpose
To support the machining team by operating and assisting in the setup of Star Multi Axis sliding head CNC lathes (Fanuc control), producing high-precision components safely, efficiently, and consistently.
This is a development role suited to a junior machinist who can run production, complete in-process checks, and progressively take on more setup and program-edit responsibility under supervision.

Key Responsibilities
CNC Operation & Production Running (Primary)

  • Load/unload parts, start cycles, monitor machining performance, and respond to alarms/issues appropriately.
  • Complete routine tool changes and basic machine adjustments as trained and authorised.
  • Escalate process concerns (tool wear, finish issues, dimensional drift) to the setter/programmer/supervisor promptly.
  • Assist with machine setups and changeovers under supervision: tooling preparation, work holding, bar feed checks, offsets support.
  • Support prove-out activities including first-off checks and confirmation of stable running.
  • Help maintain setup sheets and basic job documentation.
  • Carry out minor, controlled edits at the machine under instruction (e.g., offsets, wear adjustments; simple line edits where permitted).
  • Exposure to CAD/CAM is an advantage, with opportunity to develop programming skills over time.
