Role Overview
The Document Controller shall manage the technical and commercial documentation to ensure project delivery is traceable, accurate, and completely transparent.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and audit incoming engineering drawings, datasheets, contracts, and vendor packages.
- Screen documents for complete metadata, signing authority, and precise title block information.
- Catalogue files in the Master Document Register.
- Transmit formal project communications.
- Enforce strict revision rules to isolate and archive outdated documents.
- Route Request for Information (RFI) logs and technical submittals to appropriate engineering teams.
- Track unresolved engineering review cycles and escalate target milestone delays.
- Host training sessions on document control tools for internal staff and external partners.
- Compile comprehensive project handbooks, operations manuals, and final as-built drawings.
- Conduct routine quality audits on data repositories to protect system integrity.
- Restrict folder permissions to safeguard proprietary designs and confidential corporate records.
- Verify that project folders strictly meet ISO 9001 and local building code standards.
- Prepare routine status reports for project leadership regarding overall data quality.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience.
- Detailed operational knowledge of Electronic Document Management Systems such as; BIM360, Procore, Viewpoint, or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel and word. PDF mark up tools such as blubeam.
