Senior Manager, Accounting

Direct Hire Full-Time Role

Pay Rate: $77 - $91 per hour

Location: Redwood City, CA - Hybrid Role

Job Summary:

The Senior Accounting Manager plays a key role in the Finance organization and is responsible for an array of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, tax reporting, and compliance. The Accounting Manager will report to the Executive Director, Finance. The ideal candidate possesses analytical experience and process improvement with a collaborative work style. This person is a self-starter and detail-oriented with a high level of work integrity and ethical standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities. Prepare journal entries and reconcile all major balance sheet accounts.
  • Perform a detailed review of the monthly general ledger and financial statements to ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
  • Support the financial audits, including preparing requested schedules and documents.
  • Partner with various business teams to ensure the completeness and accuracy of accounting accruals.
  • Monitor and manage accruals and prepaid expenses for clinical projects for each period.
  • Assist with quarterly financial statements fluctuation analysis.
  • Manage accounts payable processes with a focus on accuracy and proper expense recognition.
  • Compile information for corporate and state tax returns.
  • Manage our purchase order system, including vendor maintenance, system hierarchy, and approval process.
  • Support in the technical review of complex transactions, including drafting technical memos.
  • Identify opportunities for accounting process improvements and drive the implementation of solutions.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in a biotechnology environment preferred
  • Experience and working knowledge with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and other accounting tools
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
