About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Construction Technician to join our College in Northamptonshire. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning within our Construction and Building Services provision.
As a key member of the Building Services, Professional and Technical team, you will be responsible for maintaining workshop facilities, preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons, and providing essential day-to-day technical support to both staff and students. Your contribution will help ensure that our construction students have access to a safe, well-equipped, and professional learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and setup of practical construction teaching sessions.
- Prepare materials, tools, machinery, and equipment for practical classes.
- Support students undertaking practical activities under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Maintain construction workshops and associated facilities to a high standard.
- Carry out routine checks and maintenance of construction tools and equipment.
- Ensure administrative processes are completed efficiently, including:
- Stock control and inventory management
- Asset registers
- Statutory records and returns
- Promote and support a safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
About You
The successful candidate will possess
- A minimum of Grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language.
- Experience working in a similar technician, workshop, or construction support role.
- Experience using a range of construction machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
Desirable
- Experience working within an education or training environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices relevant to construction workshops.
