Overview
- Job Title: Tendering & Design Engineer

- Location: Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire (Initial 3 months: 4 days in-office, Mon–Thu; Post-probation: Hybrid 2 days in-office). Working Hours: 07:30 – 16:00 (30-minute lunch).
- Base Salary: up to £50,000

- Position Context: Full-time backfill role within a 2-person team, reporting directly to the Tendering Manager.
Key Purpose of the Role
Working in partnership with K&D Recruitment, our client is seeking an experienced Tendering & Design Engineerto develop technically compliant, commercial tender submissions for Low Voltage (LV) switchgear, package substations, and EV infrastructure projects.
This role bridges tendering and preliminary design—producing technical solutions, component selections, layout drawings, and cost estimations. The engineer will collaborate closely with internal teams across Sales, Engineering, Operations, Production, and Procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate incoming customer enquiries and accurately interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Correctly specify and select electrical components for package substations and LV switchgear/switchboards.
- Utilize AutoCAD to generate preliminary single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and technical schematics.
- Liaise with Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams to assemble complete costings and technical tender proposals.
- Communicate effectively with customers and external stakeholders via phone and face-to-face meetings to clarify technical requirements.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Electrical Tendering, Applications Engineering, or Bid/Proposals Engineering.
- Solid technical background and familiarity with LV Switchgear and/or Package Substations.
- Proven ability to read and interpret complex electrical engineering drawings and schematics.
- Practical proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills (verbal and written).
Desirable Criteria
- Exposure to EV infrastructure project delivery or related equipment.

- Complete internal product knowledge training (may require brief travel to secondary site facility).
