The Best Connection is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Van Driver (Collections & Deliveries) based in Clifton Moor, York.
This is a rewarding role supporting members of the community by delivering and collecting mobility equipment. The position is initially for a 3-month contract from September to the end of November, although successful candidates can start sooner.
The Role
As a Van Driver, you will be responsible for delivering, demonstrating, collecting and transporting wheelchairs and related mobility equipment to and from service users across the local area.
Full training will be provided, including equipment handling procedures and customer handover processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering wheelchairs and mobility equipment to service users.
- Demonstrating the safe and correct use of equipment during delivery visits.
- Collecting wheelchairs and equipment when required.
- Ensuring returned equipment is correctly decontaminated and prepared for transport.
- Following all health and safety procedures.
- Providing a professional, compassionate and respectful service to customers and colleagues.
- Completing any additional duties required following training.
Please note that this role involves manual handling and regular lifting of equipment weighing over 15kg. There may also be occasions where working in confined or awkward positions is required.
A full uniform will be provided.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00am to 4:30pm
- 30-minute unpaid break each day
No weekend work required.
Pay
£13.25 per hour
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A full UK Category B driving licence
- A minimum of 2 years' van driving experience in the UK
- No more than 6 points for minor motoring offences
- No DD, DR, CD or TT99 endorsements
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Good geographical knowledge and confident route planning skills
- A caring, professional and respectful approach when dealing with service users
DBS Requirement
An Enhanced DBS Check including Child and Adult Barred Lists is required for this position. The cost of the DBS check will be covered.
