This is a great opportunity for an Engineering Machinist to join a well known company based in Somerset, with ambitious growth plans, you will form an integral part of the Machine shop team, undertaking a variety of important task on a daily basis.

The Role:

 

  • Operating manual XYZ lathes and milling machines to manufacture and repair components used in electric motors, pumps, gearboxes and fans.
  • Work closely with engineering colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in fault diagnosis and determine appropriate repair methods for a range of mechanical systems.
  • Produce work to specified tolerances and quality standards
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean and well-organised workshop.


The Package:

  • £35,000 starting salary - £40k - £45k overall earnings.
  • Day shifts - 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

Ideal Experience Required:

  • Experience with Conventional Machines: Skilled in operating manual lathes and milling machines for precision machining tasks
  • XYZ Turning experience
  • Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc)
  • Experience with welding and balancing would be beneficial
  • Reading Technical Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings to manufacture or repair components to specification
  • Machining to Fine Tolerances
  • Experience with using measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, callipers) to ensure accuracy and quality
