Transport Operations Manager

Barnsley

£50,000 - £56,000 DOE

Monday to Friday | 07:00 - 17:00

The Best Connection are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Barnsley-based business for an experienced Transport Operations Manager to take responsibility for a large fleet operation.

This role will oversee the day-to-day management of approximately 200 vans and 14 HGVs operating under a National Operator's Licence, ensuring compliance, efficiency and high operational standards. 

Duties Include:

• Managing the daily transport operation and vehicle fleet
• Ensuring compliance with Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation
• Overseeing driver compliance, tachographs and vehicle records
• Managing vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections and PMIs
• Liaising with the in-house workshop team to minimise downtime
• Monitoring fleet performance and identifying operational improvements
• Producing reports and maintaining accurate compliance records
• Supporting and managing drivers and transport staff

Requirements:

• Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential)
• Previous transport or fleet management experience
• Strong understanding of transport compliance and legislation
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
