Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Biology lessons across a range of programmes and levels.
  • Develop high-quality learning materials and practical laboratory activities.
  • Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and monitor progress.
  • Support students through academic guidance and pastoral care where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, and achievement.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, open events, and other college activities.
  • Promote safe working practices within laboratory and teaching environments.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree in Biology or a closely related life science discipline.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve one where applicable).
  • Experience teaching Biology in further education, higher education, or a relevant educational setting.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • A postgraduate qualification in Biology or a related subject.
  • Experience delivering practical laboratory sessions.
  • Knowledge of current Biology curricula and assessment requirements.
  • Experience using virtual learning environments and educational technology.
  • Experience contributing to curriculum design and quality enhancement.
