Food Standards Agency - HEO (Home Based) | Product Developer (Power Platform)
Location: Remote
If you’re someone who enjoys turning messy, manual processes into clear, user-friendly digital solutions, this is a brilliant opportunity to make a real impact. Our Client, a reputed Government organisation, is hiring a Product Developer to help reshape how operational data and workflows are delivered-simplifying data collection and reducing duplicate work.
What you’ll be doing:
• Work with operational colleagues to pinpoint time-consuming, manual or difficult processes and translate them into practical, user-centred digital products
• Design, build, test, deploy and maintain Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate workflows (and wider Power Platform low-code solutions)
• Replace or improve uncontrolled spreadsheets, manual forms and email-based processes
• Build in controls such as validation, permissions, approvals, notifications and audit trails
• Use user-centred and agile approaches-developing minimum viable products, gathering feedback and iterating based on evidence
• Connect apps to suitable data sources (e.g., Microsoft Lists, SharePoint, Dataverse or other approved services)
• Undertake testing, troubleshooting and quality assurance to resolve usability, performance or data issues before release
• Produce clear product documentation and support guidance, and maintain change history
• Monitor adoption and benefits, helping prioritise enhancements based on feedback and evidence
• Manage a delivery backlog-communicating progress, dependencies and risks, and escalating issues when needed
What you’ll bring:
• Substantial, hands-on experience designing and improving Microsoft Power Apps to solve real operational problems
• Confidence working with users and stakeholders to understand needs, map processes and convert requirements into solutions
• Experience using the wider Microsoft Power Platform-connecting low-code products to structured data sources such as SharePoint, Microsoft Lists or Excel
• Ability to manage digital products end-to-end, including testing, documentation, issue resolution and iterative improvement
• Strong autonomy and decision-making-able to contribute quickly in a short-term assignment
• Working knowledge of Power Apps concepts such as formulas, controls, variables, collections and responsive design considerations
Additional information:
This is initially a 6-month role, so pace, focus and the ability to ramp up quickly are key.
If you’re ready to help build reliable, accessible solutions that reduce manual effort and improve data quality, we’d love to hear from you-apply now.
