Senior Research Associate, Analytical Chemistry

W2 Contract-to-Hire

Salary Range: $104,000 - $114,400 per year

Location: Redwood City, CA - Hybrid Role

Job Summary:

This role will be for the Analytical Chemistry Department. The Temporary Analytical Chemistry Senior Research Associate will assist with analytical and prep chromatography as well as physicochemical properties of drug discovery compounds to support our internal drug discovery programs.  Chromatography will include reversed-phase HPLC and achiral and chiral SFC.  Physicochemical properties will include, but is not limited to stability and forced degradation assays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate analytical and prep LCMS, SFC, and NMR.
  • Perform purification and isolation of synthetic final products and intermediates using prep HPLC and SFC.
  • Acquire NMR spectra.
  • Assist in development, implementation of stability and forced degradation physicochemical properties assays, followed by daily analysis and data reporting.
  • As appropriate, perform QC (LCMS, NMR, chiral purity assessment by SFC) on purified compounds.
  • Enhance productivity and efficiency through workflow improvements and automation.
  • Assist in lab maintenance.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A BS or BA in Chemistry or Biochemistry is required.
  • At least one year of experience post-undergraduate degree working in a chemistry lab - having worked in a biotech or pharma chemistry lab in particular, handling organic solvents and reagents – required.
  • Team player and excellent communication skills required.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, neat, and highly proactive, critical for success, i.e., required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products required.
  • Experience with Agilent, Waters, Bruker instruments and software is a big, big plus - preferred.
  • Experience setting up and running physicochemical assays preferred.
  • LCMS and SFC method development, NMR data interpretation, and automated data report writing preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience in troubleshooting analytical instrumentation is preferred.
