Welding Fabricator –Derby

What’s the Opportunity?

We’re recruiting for a Welding Fabricator to join our clients team in Derby. Focusing on structural steelwork and bespoke metal fabrication. The company supplies a wide range of sectors including construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure, and is known for delivering high-quality, tailored metalwork solutions.

Hourly Rate: Up to £17.00 per hour, based on experience

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday: 06:30 – 16:30

• Overtime available, paid at time and a half after 42 hours

• 1-hour break (30 minutes paid)

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out MIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium to required specifications

• Fabricate steel components using band saws, presses, and other metalworking tools

• Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately

• Conduct visual quality inspections before dispatch

• Follow all workshop safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment

• Complete quality documentation as required

• Work independently and as part of a team to meet fabrication timescales

• Occasionally liaise with the Works Manager to ensure job progress and resolve any issues

Requirements:

• Experience in welding and fabrication, particularly MIG welding

• Confident reading technical and engineering drawings

• Skilled in using workshop tools and metal fabrication machinery

• Good communication and problem-solving skills

• Ability to identify materials and use measuring equipment accurately

• Strong awareness of health and safety in a workshop environment

• Previous coded welding experience or in-house welding qualifications preferred

• Must have the right to work in the UK

• Full PPE including welding mask, hi-vis, safety boots, and dark protective clothing
