Sourcing Manager (Apparel)

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of top European retailers as a Sourcing Manager for their sourcing office in Hong Kong. The company has a strong presence all-over Europe and a successful sourcing business for a number of years in Asia. Reporting directly into the Sourcing Director, you will be leading a number of staffs to strategically plan and execute various sourcing operations.

As a senior member of the sourcing team, you will be responsible for:-

  • Vendor management
    • Analyse, evaluate and improve vendor’s capabilities and performance
    • Capacity management
    • Expand or consolidate vendor base when appropriate
    • Price negotiation and create detailed cost saving plans and methods
    • Lead-time negotiation along with regular trouble shooting issues such as deliveries and quality issues
  • Communications with head office
    • Build up strong communication platform and schedules with buyers and designers
    • Constant interaction and consultation on vendor capacity, order allocation etc
    • Observe and understand in detail the buyer’s needs and provide as much support as possible
    • Lead and supervise the sampling and costing operations and strive for continuous improvement
  • Communications with internal teams in off-shore countries
    • Monitor capacity of each location carefully
    • Analyse, evaluate and propose available capacity for order allocation
    • Drive and execute certain projects and strategies together to achieve the common goal
  • Communications with internal support teams
    • Build trust with the quality and CSR teams in order to ensure all products sourced are done so ethically at the required quality standards
    • Assist in certain quality or CSR driven initiatives
    • Assist in any quality issues, claims or disputes between buyers/QA with vendors
    • Monitor potential quality issues and execute relative solutions to ensure they can be avoided
  • Merchandising Activities
    • Supervise and lead the merchandising operations, including T&A follow ups
    • Follow production plans and WIPs to ensure all orders are shipped on time
  • Key Performance Indicator
    • Your performance will be evaluated based on price margin, sampling and shipment deliveries, communications between key stakeholders and direct manager, along with quality ‘right first time’ initiative

Requirements:-

  • Bachelor degree of above in Textiles / Fashion or related discipline (Masters / MBA an advantage)
  • Minimum 12 years relevant sourcing experience from EU buying offices with at least 6 years management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal Chinese and English
  • Strong knowledge in mens/ladies apparel – must have good knowledge in woven/knit/denim items
  • Proven managerial skills
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Must have strong sourcing experience in China and SEA countries (e.g. Bangladesh, India)
  • Experience working in large sized European retailers is a must
  • Travelling will be frequent
