Payroll Officer – Part Time

Location: Sale, Greater Manchester, M33
Salary: £29,000 per annum
Hours: 30 hours per week – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
Working arrangements: Office based, with work-from-home days open to discussion for the right candidate. Applicants must be able to comfortably commute to the Sale office.

Personnel Solutions are recruiting an experienced Payroll Officer on behalf of an established commercial cleaning business in Sale.

This is an opportunity for an organised, detail-focused payroll professional to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

The role

- Manage end-to-end monthly payroll, including starters, leavers, changes to hours and pay, and holiday calculations.
- Process statutory payments, sickness absence, maternity and paternity pay, expenses and deductions.
- Prepare BACS payment files and distribute payslips and P45s.
- Complete HMRC submissions, including FPS and EPS, and resolve payroll queries.
- Administer workplace and local government pension schemes, including NEST and GMPF.
- Oversee time and attendance records, working with the operations team to resolve discrepancies and meet payroll deadlines.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare payroll journals, budget reports and statutory reporting.
- Handle confidential employee information professionally and securely.

About you

- Previous experience managing end-to-end payroll.
- A sound understanding of statutory payments, HMRC reporting and pension administration.
- Strong numerical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confident using payroll software and investigating discrepancies.
- Able to organise your workload, meet deadlines and communicate clearly with colleagues.
- Experience within commercial cleaning and knowledge of CleanLink and SmartTask would be particularly advantageous.
