Workshop Engineer

Workshop Engineer (Work/Eng/AC) Brighouse, England

Salary: GBP13 - GBP17 per hour

Major Recruitment are currently seeking a workshop engineer for our prestigious client in the Brighouse area.  This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join and innovative and growing company.

The job holder reports to the HCM on all work issues and all personnel issues. The job holder has responsibility for the following:

  • Fault diagnosis, repair and routine maintenance of sweepers and other Company equipment with minimal supervision, in a safe and economic manner, employing such skills and knowledge as are required at minimum cost to the Company
  • Ensuring that all routine maintenance or repair work is the subject of an accurate and timely written report including details of parts used and time taken on a work record card
  • Carry out vehicle inspections and MOT checks, delivering vehicles to MOT test stations
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment used in the course of any such routine maintenance or repair work are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition
  • Ensure that all work engineering areas at Brighouse are kept clean, tidy and safe at all times
  • Ensure that safe working practices are observed at all times, in accordance with Company policy, legislation and as instructed by the HCM
  • Report defective tools or workshop equipment to the HCM immediately
  • Examine sweepers and other Company equipment and report verbally or in writing regarding their condition
  • The security of assets under their control
  • Assisting the rental operations department, ensuring weekly stock checks of all hire fleet assets not on rent, as required

 Authority

  • The job holder should not carry out additional work without authority from the HCM
  • Use workshop and other fixed plant, hand tools and equipment only where fully trained and authorised to do

 General

  • Significant problems should be reported to the HCM in good time
  • Adherence to the company Health, Safety and Environmental and other relevant policies
  • All staff must respect company confidentiality and disclose information to customers, suppliers or their agents only as authorised by the directors of the company
  • All service department staff should be prepared to do physical work in or around the premises for such things as stock checks, lorry unloading, demonstrations etc., as instructed by the RSMS
