Flow Cytometry Associate Scientist, Discovery Biology

W2 Contract

Pay Rate: $40 - $50 per hour

Location: South San Francisco, CA - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Flow Cytometry Associate Scientist to join our Discovery Biology group. In this role, you will support flow cytometry-based research needs across the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for activities related to supporting flow lab operation, including routine instrument maintenance, user training/support, and executing flow-based assays. Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to directly contribute to project teams as an independent data generator. We are looking for a self-driven, well-organized team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance on flow cytometers and manage vendor preventative maintenance (PM) schedules.
  • Provide hands-on instrument training and troubleshooting support for our scientists.
  • Perform cell sorting experiments to support various scientists and project teams within the organization.
  • Support flow-based experimental design, including multi-color panel design and optimization.
  • Manage reagent and consumable inventories specifically related to flow cytometry operations.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate records of experimental procedures and data in accordance with our policy.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, oncology, immunology, cell biology, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of flow cytometry, including experience with spectral flow cytometry.
  • Proven experience with cell sorting and instrument maintenance.
  • Prior experience using flow cytometry analysis software (e.g., BD FACSDiva, FlowJo, FCS Express, SpectroFlo, etc.) and statistical analysis software (GraphPad).
  • Experience supporting user training and onboarding.
  • hands-on experiences performing cell-based bioassays, including flow-based cell assays.
  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail, quick learning agility, and exceptional interpersonal skills suited for a multi-functional team environment.
  • Ability to lift packages up to 40 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience managing or supporting a flow cytometry core facility.
  • Advanced, hands-on experience with various cell sorter instruments.
  • Experience with high-dimensional panel design.
  • A growth mindset with a strong desire to contribute to innovative therapeutic discoveries.
