Temporary Scientist I, Computational Chemistry

W2 Contract

Pay Rate: $55 - $65 per hour

Location: Redwood City, CA - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Computational Chemist to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive drug discovery through cutting-edge computational methods, working at the intersection of structural biology, medicinal chemistry, biology, and data science to accelerate the development of transformative therapeutics for patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine, propose, and implement ML methodologies, analyze large data, and document research to identify clustering methods for Macrocycles.
  • Ability to work with software packages/GitHub repositories, test, and use them.
  • Design and implement virtual screening workflows leveraging both structure-based and ligand-based computational methods to discover novel hit compounds and accelerate lead optimization processes.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary, collaborative teams in Discovery Sciences to help analyze structure-activity relationships (SAR) and make data-driven decisions by following existing SAR trends to design strategies for Ro5 and bRo5 molecules.
  • Devise and execute strategies to augment our hit-finding abilities by designing diverse chemical libraries.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in computational chemistry or related field.
  • Understanding of contemporary computational chemistry methods and their use in protein-ligand analysis and drug design, such as docking, virtual screening, pharmacophore modeling, MD simulation, QM calculations, etc.
  • Experience with computational chemistry, cheminformatics, data science, and machine learning software.
  • Scientific programming or scripting in Bash, Python, R, Java, C, or similar languages.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience in positively influencing team decisions and effectively collaborating across multidisciplinary environments.
  • Driven by a desire to be innovative and creative in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
