Technical Service Chemist required, based in Cheshire on a 12-month contract. Requiring experience of analytical techniques used in the Oils/Fuels/Petrochemical industries such as assessing corrosion and scale, as well as strong wet chemistry analysis.

SRG are working with a multinational company who specialise in the creation of speciality chemicals for a range of markets. They are now looking to add a Technical Service Chemist to their Oils and Fuels laboratory on a 12-month contract. This role will include performance testing of oils/fuels/petrochemicals using standard techniques such as assessing corrosion and scale, as well as wet chemistry analysis to measure physical properties such as viscosity and density. Candidates with experience of Oilfield Services and the testing if such chemicals are encouraged to apply.

Role / Description
- Testing of oilfield/fuel/petrochemical products to assess performance such as corrosion and scale
- Wet chemistry analysis and Quality Control-type analysis including viscosity and density testing
- Supporting in the formulation of testing products, including the selection and evaluation of alternative raw materials/components
- Using laboratory information management system (LIMs) to initiate and report laboratory work and register and record samples received or prepared.
- Assisting in provision of test samples to customers and providing updates on sample despatches to Sales Managers and customers.
- Ensuring raw materials always remains in sufficient quantities and within shelf life.
- Working to deadlines, planning work schedule and working with minimal guidance.
- Reading and assessing customer requirements and designing lab test program to deliver technical test data need to service enquiry.
- Communicating and reporting technical information to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. This could be verbal or written, e.g., via reports or presentations.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry (or similar)
- Proven industrial experience of analysing oils/fuels/petrochemicals including corrosion testing and scale testing
- Proven industrial experience of wet chemistry analysis (i.e. viscosity and density)
- Excellent time management and project management skills
- Good problem-solving skills
