Summary:
GI Group are delighted to partner with our client in the recruitment of a Health & Safety Officer (Manager) based in Shannon, Co. Clare. This is a permanent role offering a competitive salary and the opportunity to lead and further develop the Health & Safety function within a regulated environment. The Health & Safety Officer (Manager) will be responsible for driving a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, permits and licensing requirements, and acting as the main point of contact for internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols in line with organisational permits and licensing requirements.
  • Act as primary liaison with local governance bodies and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Oversee and streamline incident reporting processes, ensuring timely communication internally and to external bodies such as the Health & Safety Authority and insurers.
  • Produce and deliver structured compliance assessments and reports.
  • Conduct regular audits, safety inspections, and environmental assessments to maintain and improve quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and manage logistics for external training workshops as required.
  • Promote open communication between leadership and staff on all safety-related matters.
  • Continuously review, evaluate, and refine safety protocols and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide strong support to the management team through effective communication and reporting.
  • Maintain and organise comprehensive Health & Safety documentation and records to a high standard.


Requirements:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a comparable Health & Safety role, ideally within a regulated or industrial environment.
  • Proven track record in managing Health & Safety compliance and regulatory adherence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
  • Additional certifications such as NEBOSH and/or ISO Lead Auditor are highly desirable.
