Summary:
GI Group is partnering with a leading organisation in Galway East who are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead, develop and manage a high-performing engineering team. This role combines people leadership, technical oversight, and delivery accountability – ensuring engineering output aligns with business objectives, quality standards and agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of engineers, fostering high performance and engagement.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, goal setting and career development planning.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and succession planning within the engineering function.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement.
- Plan and manage engineering workloads, resourcing and priorities.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Product and other stakeholders to deliver on commitments.
- Track delivery against timelines, quality, cost and performance metrics.
- Proactively address risks, dependencies and escalations.
- Drive effective use of the QMS for robust root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Drive a Continuous Improvement culture that supports Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) across the plant.
- Lead process improvements, tooling enhancements and efficiency initiatives.
- Champion innovation and adoption of new technologies or methods where appropriate.
- Develop strategies for asset replacement and lifecycle management where relevant.
- Implement and drive preventative maintenance best practice to maximise equipment efficiency.
- Develop and maintain leading KPIs to support site-wide performance metrics.
- Drive a team-based, cross-functional approach to problem-solving with other site functions.
- Manage departmental expenditure within agreed budget requirements.
- Fully support internal and external audits relevant to the engineering function.
- Continually review functional effectiveness and implement appropriate actions for improvement.
Requirements:
- Degree (Level 7 or above) in Engineering (preferably Polymer or Mechanical).
- Lean / Six Sigma qualifications with strong problem-solving skills.
- Typically 5+ years’ experience in a similar Engineering Management role.
- Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams.
- Strong technical background relevant to manufacturing/plant engineering.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance technical depth with people leadership and delivery focus.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
- Experience working in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.

Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based within a manufacturing/plant environment in Galway East (City).
