This role is ideal for an organised and proactive individual with experience in transport, logistics, or a fast-paced administrative environment who enjoys problem-solving and coordinating daily operations.

The Role


As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery operations. Working closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams, you will be responsible for planning routes, managing schedules, and maintaining high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule customer deliveries, allocating vehicles and drivers effectively.
  • Create efficient and cost-effective transport routes.
  • Liaise with drivers, sales teams, and customers regarding delivery schedules and arrival times.
  • Manage changes to transport plans and communicate updates to all relevant parties.
  • Resolve delivery issues, delays, traffic disruptions, and capacity challenges in a calm and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with transport legislation, company safety procedures, and driver hours regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and update transport management systems.
  • Produce reports and support the wider logistics operation with administrative duties.

Essential Criteria

  • Recent experience within transport planning, logistics coordination, dispatch, or a busy administration role.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office and logistics/transport systems.
  • Excellent local geographical knowledge.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to build relationships with drivers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Proactive, team-oriented approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
