Research Biologist

Athens, Georgia

Experis is searching for a Research Biologist to join our client in Athens GA on a long term contract. This person will support in the discovery of new protective antigens and expression of such antigens in safe delivery vehicles for the development of effective recombinant vaccines against selected animal diseases. The person will be directly involved in performing the studies necessary for the projects in the area of vector-based vaccine development.
Major Responsibilities:

• Participate in the conception and execution of protocols
• Provide support in antigen discovery and design of viral vector vaccines
• Responsible to conduct assays necessary to evaluate expression, genetic stability and growth characteristics of candidate vaccines
• Provide support in preparation and formulation of vaccine candidates for proof of concept studies
• Organize transfer of developed techniques to other laboratories (Master Seed Lab, QC and process development).
• Responsible for monitoring day-to-day lab activities, including timely ordering of consumable items and preparation of stock materials
• Ensure compliance with all required policies and procedures

Knowledge and Skills:

• A graduate level education and training (Masters of Science) or a BS degree with experience in one or more of the following fields: medical microbiology, molecular virology, molecular genetics or immunology.
• Experience in cultivation of microbes, DNA and RNA amplification techniques, cloning and expression techniques and protein biochemistry methods is required
