To effectively manage the service delivery within an area to meet specific business/commercial objectives and develop the business area to meet future business demands to help improve Lloyd’s Register’s competitive position.

Responsible for interpreting the business plans and costing structure into goals and objectives for the business area and changes/developments required for the systems, processes and procedures.

Assist senior managers in implementing change and developments within a business area to meet future business/commercial demands to improve Lloyd’s Register’s competitive position.

Responsible for ensuring that the systems, processes and procedures are effective and efficient to meet business/commercial requirements for both internal and external clients
To lead, manage and develop the team to maintain an effective and competitive
service. This includes recruitment, performance management and training / development.
Responsible for resource planning including budget setting, prioritising, delegating and monitoring of activities and achievements of the business area taking into account commercial and contractual requirements pertinent to delivery.

Deal with business queries and build relationships with internal and external clients, as appropriate, to resolve service problems and help build the business.

To mentor/coach team members, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.

Liaise with other business areas/offices to ensure consistency in development and delivery of business/commercial services to internal and external clients.

Implementation of LR Martec strategy and business plan.
Responsible for day to day management of operation of Martec office and oversight of leadership and administration staff (6 in total).

Responsible for preparation of budgets, forecasts and variance reporting.

Responsible for preparation of quotations and their approval, within set authority.
Responsible for the adherence of operations to the Business Assurance system.

Oversight of all aspects of contract management.
Understand and promote role of Martec's strategic R&D position in LR, especially in relation to Marine Strategy Plan
Assist President with integration into LR in key areas such as financial systems, legal, HR, service delivery and branding. Drive and facilitate change.

Align Martec's commercial service portfolio with the strategic goals of LR and ensure consistent delivery within Marine Consultancy Services.

-Experience of consultancy business, especially with regard to business development and management.
-Sufficient technical education and knowledge to understand and make strategic decisions for Martec's technology base (software development of marine and energy engineering applications, advanced structural analysis, risk and reliability, naval architecture)
-Knowledge of sound and modern practices for the management of human and financial resources.
-Knowledge about LR (business, strategic plans, operation, processes, clients)
-Knowledge of the economic, social, environmental and political issues (national, regional and local) as they relate to the marine, offshore and industrial sectors and clients of LRNA
-Knowledge of the marine and offshore sectors and players in Canada and the roles that they various governmental and intergovernmental agencies play
Knowledge of, and experience in, management of the technical and financial resources related to technical projects.
