Dev Ops Engineer Summary:

Signature Consultants has an opportunity for a DevOps Engineer.  In this role the candidate will support daily build and deploy activities in alignment with our client’s .NET/Microsoft application. Our client is seeking a highly motivated DevOps Engineers familiar with Agile development methodologies to join them in delivering the best CI/CD solution supporting Agile software development efforts. The DevOps Engineer shall build automated Continuous Delivery solutions that help enterprises deliver software of higher quality, at greater speed, with less cost and with more engaged teams. The DevOps Engineer role utilizes a mix of cutting edge open source and commercial software to provide our customers with customized continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily execution of build ops in an automated and continuous process
  • Pre-prod and production environments
  • Hands-on design, build, deployment and support of code
  • Compiling code to move into test environments via automated processes
  • Designing and developing scripts/tools for Continuous Integration Continuous Deployments
  • Designing and developing automation templates/tools for infrastructure provisioning, configuration & change management
  • Building and deploying web applications to dev/test/prod environments
  • Automating configuration management, infrastructure, and application deployments in a toolset such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible or Salt
  • Performed containerization strategies using Docker
  • Designing and deploying cutting edge applications on private environments
  • Support development teams in an agile environment
  • Research and deploy commercial, open source, and proprietary monitoring tools
  • Build and maintain technical relationships with cross teams
  • Effectively communicate technical proposals to team members and management
  • Execute system administration of hosting platforms capable of running on a variety of frameworks on both public and private cloud infrastructures
  • Develop and maintain installation, configuration and operations procedures
  • Ensure system availability, performance, capacity, and monitoring through proper response to incidents, events and problems
  • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
  • Package management.
  • Build automated deployments using configuration management playbooks and recipes
  • Ensure the performance, reliability, security and ease of maintenance for deployments
  • Provides architectural support and high level analysis for Windows systems and components
  • Assists in the recommendations for improvements and the development of technical standards
  • Engineer and implement advanced solutions related to Linux systems
  • Conducts analysis, prepares reports, and works on project implementation
  • Understand business requirements and implements effective strategies
  • Designs solutions that maximize the sharing of applications, information, and resources
  • Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues
  • Researches emerging technologies and makes recommendations based on future needs
  • Provides ongoing information to leadership, customers, and peers regarding health of the environment, enhancements, and innovations

Qualifications:

  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Good understanding of agile development methodology
  • Experience with version control systems. TFS (Microsoft Team Foundation Server)
  •  5+ years of experience with DevOps and automation frameworks, e.g. Jenkins, in a .NET/Microsoft environment
  • Experience with setting up a CI/CD pipeline from ground up
  • High proficiency in design elements including performance tradeoffs, protocol interoperability, architecture development, and requirements for testing / proof of concept
  • Experience with engineering authentication tools and single-on capabilities
  • Experience with deployment and configurations tools for Windows servers, such as Puppet
  • Advanced knowledge of various network technologies - TCP/IP, ICMP
  • Experience with network management and troubleshooting tools
  • Advanced skills in gathering requirements, performing analysis and working with other network engineers on complex design solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations to peers and leaders.
