Location: York 

Reporting to Head Chef 

Castle Catering and Hospitality division is looking for a qualified chef to assist in the preparation of all meals and services for a large establishment. The kitchen will be responsible for reaching around 800 covers. 


Responsible for maintaining standards at all times, constantly maintaining exceptional cleanliness and hygiene levels.
Carrying out duties in the most professional, cost effective and efficient manner, demonstrating due care to all relevant Health and Safety legislation and safer practices for children.


Main Duties
1. Liaising with the Senior Chef on duty with regards to menus, diets and numbers, on a daily basis
2. Responsibility for the preparation and presentation of high quality meals and services at the
required times
3. Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen and minimising food loss and
preventing wastage
4. Ensuring prep and cutlery are kept to an acceptable level at all times
5. Preparing for and assisting with special functions
6. Attending all relevant staff meetings and training sessions
7. Demonstrating a positive attitude at all times
8. Monitoring all Health and Safety aspects within all areas of the kitchen including storage of all
foodstuffs, stock rotation, date labelling and documentation of temperature controls
9. Being flexible with regards to the demands of the business
10. Contributing ideas with regards to menu development
11. Undertaking any other reasonable request at any time
12. Taking management responsibility of a member of the Food and Events team, delegating work
and conducting appropriate mid-year and annual appraisals when required
13. Adhering to the principles of the HACCP system, ensuring food safety and completing relevant
documentation
