Catering Assistant

Catering Assistant (VC1103) York, England

Our client is looking for a Catering Assistants to join their professional team. 

Located on the outskirts of York, our client is a high standard events and dining venue. Transport is highly beneficial due to the location.

Duties:

  • Provide high levels of personal standards of performance, hygiene and appearance at all times, wearing the correct company uniform at all times and ensuring it is clean and pressed
  • Communicate well, and to demonstrate a pleasant and polite personality to both customers and fellow team members
  • Assist at any special functions, some of which may occur outside working hours.
  • Report any customer complaints or compliments and take some remedial action if at all possible.
  • Report immediately any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or any other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate or possible
  • Attend meetings and training courses as may be necessary
  • Relieve in other areas during periods of holidays and sickness
  • Carry out all aspects of preparation and presentation of food as per the daily menus and agreed recipes
  • All duties must be carried out in compliance with all statutory, Estate Health and Safety and Food Hygiene regulations
  • Ensure that all food is presented and served in a clean and hygienic environment
  • Assist in ensuring that a high quality food offer is available and displayed appropriately during service times
  • Daily and deep cleaning as required in line with cleaning policy and daily check sheets
  • Assist in the checking and storing of deliveries
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by a senior manager or Chef

Requirements:

  • Previous food preparation experience within a kitchen environment
  • Ability to work within a team or on own initiative as required
  • Flexible approach to duties undertaken
  • Honesty and a high level of integrity
  • Enthusiasm and capacity for hard work
  • Systematic and cheerful approach with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings
  • Ability to remain professional, calm and work safely within a fast paced environment

Desirable:

  • A current Food Hygiene qualification
  • Formal cooking/catering qualification/training
