Voluntary opportunity for Digital Content Creator to travel and work in the USA in 2020
BACKGROUND
The USA 2020 Challenge will see Ben Smith, Founder of The 401 Challenge, run a marathon in each of the 50 US state capitals as well as cycle between each one. Ben’s aim is to complete the 14,001 miles in 104 days: starting in July 2020 and finishing October 2020. During this epic challenge, with the help of schools, organisations and individuals in the UK, Ben hopes to raise £1 million for the 401 Foundation and Youth Sport Trust, supporting their work to improve people’s mental health and wellbeing.
THE ROLE
As one of two Digital Content Creators, you will support The USA 2020 Challenge during July to October 2020. You will be based 2 months in the USA and then 2 months in the UK. Your main responsibility will be to emotively capture and communicate the day to day aspects of The USA 2020 Challenge through The 401 Challenge social platforms, to the media both in the UK and US and also to over 40001 schools, inspiring over a million young people to get physically active and improve their mental wellbeing. Skills in the following areas are a MUST:
- Collect and create video footage / photos / dialogue
- Write, film & edit videos on a daily basis
- Promote and communicate the challenge through daily social media posts
- Produce footage that could be used for documentaries, TV shows, YouTube etc
- YouTube Channel management
THE PERSON
As Digital Content Creator you will have experience of operating in a fast-changing environment, preferably having been involved in a challenge similar to this but not required if not. You will be digital media savvy with the imagination, proactivity and creativity to produce good pictures and footage. Able to communicate effectively, work as part of a small but effective team, and be comfortable / knowledgeable with a camera, you will have a can-do attitude and a real desire to “make a difference”. Self-motivated and able to multi-task, you will also have:
- ability to work to tight deadlines in a challenging & mobile environment
- keen eye for detail and excellent organisational skills
- excellent communication skills
- proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro etc
You must be prepared to travel to and operate within the USA for up to 9 weeks. You will need to apply for a USA Tourist Visa and must not have previously been refused entry to the USA. Due to vehicle insurance restrictions you need to be 25 or older.
