Opportunity for dynamic General Manager / Managing Director in manufacturing / engineering facility in South Wales

The Role

As Managing Director / General Manager, you will lead a 120+ strong site ensuring, quality, delivery, profitability and growth of the business. Responsibilities include:

  • lead and manage the production / engineering / manufacturing organisation
  • ownership and management of all principal contractor responsibilities
  • development of business strategy for delivery of business work scope
  • driving value and maximising profits to ensure budgets are achieved and exceeded
  • increase productivity and efficiency of all processes
  • ensure assets are constructed to specified technical / quality requirements
  • implement continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • improve Health & Safety, Quality, Capability, Capacity, Costs and Client satisfaction goals

The Company

Part of a wider international group, our client is an industrial manufacturing unit based in South Wales.

The Person

As Managing Director / General Manager, you will have significant experience at senior management level on a production / engineering / manufacturing site including commercial responsibility for the business. Exposure to heavy engineering, road, construction, fabrication, automotive, nuclear, defence, transportation etc. would be relevant alongside strong people leadership and communication skills working in a unionised environment. You must be able to:

  • communicate effectively at all levels
  • energise, lead & manage a team
  • implement solid cost control management
  • support and challenge individuals to achieve their full potential
  • set objectives and measure and deliver progress against them
  • analyse problems quickly, making decisions and taking actions to resolve
