Senior Product Design Engineer
Coleshill, Birmingham
£50,000 - £60,000

Design and development of new products with particular focus on the material aspects of product design, tooling and the manufacturing process

• Evaluation of viability of project opportunity including payback period, resource and capital requirements
• Selection of suitable polymers, including performance, processing and cost
• Project management ensuring that projects comes in on time and within budget
• Participation in the trialling of new products
• Testing of new products and obtaining of 3^rd party approvals where appropriate
• Provide application advice to customers and end users
• Participation in the design and manufacture /purchase of tooling
• Consideration of factors that affect product life
• Carry out process and design FMEAs

Occasional travel, including overseas, to other facilities, Supplier and/or Customer sites may be required from time to time, sometimes involving staying overnight – for which adequate notice will be given.

Desirable Experience

• Project management and delivery of new product development
• Use of 3D CAD
• Knowledge of Design and construction of injection mould tooling
• Experience of a variety of manufacturing processes
• Testing of products
• Knowledge of injection moulding process
