Power Market Development Lead

My client is seeking a Market Development Leader to bring existing Demand Response platforms to new countries and markets, by setting up partnerships or by establishing a direct footprint.

The Market Development Leader leads the international growth effort for the entire company, from opportunity identification, meeting key decision makers and potential partners, market/regulatory analysis, business case development, technical requirement definition, go-to-market strategy to a final recommendation of go/no-go and supports the initial stages of the implementation.

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of entering new countries/markets, establishing partnerships and has a detailed understanding of the international energy markets. A technical background and expertise in Demand Response is an advantage.

A hands-on innovative operator with a track record of forging successful business relationships, the role holder will be expected to drive the rapid geographic expansion of my clients business together with existing and new local partners, closely supported by the company senior management and technology team.

Responsibilities:

• Keep up to date with market developments and become the go-to person for international Demand Response markets and information.
• Understand the company’s technology and find new applications for it in a global setting.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new stakeholders around the world.
• Be the main contact for external enquiries on co-operation/partnerships.
• Investigate and document multiple markets.
• Identify regulatory, technical and commercial requirements to enter market.
• Develop a business case and present to senior management.
• Identify, contact and sign agreements with international partners.
• Work with international partners and support project manager and/or local teams to roll-out Demand Response projects.

Essential Criteria
• 7 years Industry experience in Demand Response, Battery Storage, Smart Grid, Energy OR Environmental services.
• Ability to commute to London with International Travel
• Education level: Master’s Degree in Business and/or Engineering
• Ability to confidently present sophisticated / technical concepts to a wide variety of stakeholders
• Commercial experience
• Business development or sales experience in the energy market.

Desired
• Working knowledge of foreign languages (e.g. German, French)
