Job Summary

 

This position will play a key role as a member of the quality systems department. Responsibilities include playing a key role on the Home Appliances business team. This position is located in Middleton, WI and interfaces with our PEC office in China. As a member of the Quality team, this individual will work with our Chinese suppliers to develop and manufacture quality electromechanical appliances.

 



Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Execute, lead, & manage all product safety reviews
  • Review all schematics, BOM’s and assembly drawings submitted by suppliers
  • Recommend test protocols for off-shore inspections as they relate to safety and compliance
  • Provide technical support for Project Engineering Teams in Middleton and the PEC
  • Provide input and recommendations to Quality Team to help resolve field quality issues
  • Review and approve artwork for product cartons and use and care manuals from the safety point of view
  • Support corrective action recommendations, process and product/design related
  • Support New Product Development team throughout entire product development process
  • Work with internal company personnel and suppliers to improve methods and streamline process and procedures
  • Develop recommendations for capital, operating and staffing budgets. Collaborate with other leaders in the development of a coordinated budget recommendation for Director approval. Provide fiscal oversight of allocated resources, assets and expenses. Make necessary decisions to adjust for variations in projected budget income caused by fluctuating volumes and other external factors.
  • Model the Spectrum Brands eight Core Capabilities to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility.

 

 



Education and Experience Profile

 

An equivalent combination of:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • NRTL safety testing understanding preferred

 



Required Skills

 

  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Proficiency with various communication tools.
  • Demonstrated excellent problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability managing projects and use of related project management software.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing of electromechanical small appliances in China.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are fundamental.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.
