General Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Mine at targeted level of production and cost budgets. Administer Company policy; oversee fiscal management of the mine, developing, implementing, and reporting capital and expense budgets; and, ensure and direct all mine activities (mining, processing, maintenance, engineering, reclamation, administration, accounting, lands and human resources) are in compliance with safety, environmental, employment regulations and company standards. Serve as the principal interface with the Customer, local community, regulatory agencies, and vendors.
This position has formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures the mine is operated in safe, efficient, and fiscally responsible manner.
- Primary interface with Customer, Corporate Management and local community.
- Participates in formulating and administering Company/Corporate policies.
- Monitors, directs and reports activities of the Company for attainment of budgets, strategic objectives, and specific predefined operating goals and objectives. Seeks, implements, and applies best mining/business practices.
- Coach, mentor, develop, and train employees, promoting advancement and succession in WCC operations.

Ability to analyze processes and functional requirements to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions. Ability to follow both verbal and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions. Ability to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations. Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or verbal instructions. Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.
Typical Physical Demands
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient to travel.

Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Engineering, Enviromental Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 year’s of related work experience. 5 years of management experience.
