JavaScript Developer, Node.js

A global media company are currently recruiting for a JavaScript Developer with solid experience of  Node.js.

This is an exciting time to join the business, as you will be joining a new team, with a focus on building cross-platform streaming services (web, mobile, TV).

What will you be working on/with?

  • High-availability, highly scalable, real-time video streaming applications.
  • Micro-services, cloud-based
  • AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
  • RabbitMQ/message queuing
  • Node / React / JavaScript (ES6)
  • NoSQL

 

What experience will you need to have?
Some or all of the following:

  •  Good Node.js/server-side JavaScript engineering skills
  • Experience with vanilla JavaScript (prototypes, scoping, design patterns, memory profiling)
  • Familiarity with build automation, CI and CD
  • Some familiarity with TDD and at least one unit-testing library (eg. Jasmine)
  • Experience within a mature SDLC (proper build processes, testing, code review, standards etc.

 

What will get me bonus points? 

  • Cross-platform development on smart TV / game consoles
  • Deep understanding of both OO design patterns AND functional programming
  • Experience with cloud and containers – AWS/Lambda, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of message-driven architecture, microservice-oriented architecture or both
  • Experience working with at least one NoSQL database
  • Knowledge of React
