Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer Summary:

Signature Consultants is seeking a QA Engineer for an opportunity in Richmond, VA. The Quality Assurance Engineer will perform all tasks appropriate to the role, including technical analysis, creation of manual and automated test scripts, maintenance of automated and manual test suite, system and regression testing, and providing mitigation strategy and guidance as required. He or She will be responsible for writing technical documentation as necessary by the client Development Methodology and Standards. Responsibilities also include the security, quality, and coverage of developed test scripts. Applies and acquires business and product knowledge in the performance of assigned efforts. Provide direct input into the on-going improvement of standards and processes. Incorporate innovative ideas and approaches to test development and product quality.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Create manual test cases and automated tests based on business requirements (or user stories), architectural requirements, and established coding standards.
  • Design, code and maintain the test automation framework and regression suite.
  • Participate in the review of business epics and stories.
  • Validate automated tests against business and architectural requirements.
  • Perform application system, integration, and regression testing.
  • Participate in peer code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot automated tests and resolve defects.
  • Work within an agile framework.
  • Prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Communicate ideas in both technical and user friendly language.
  • Update and maintain product documentation.
  • Escalate issues and impediments in a timely manner.
  • Work within established framework and processes.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Participate / Lead Testing COP.
  • Participate in test and code reviews.
  • Provide on call support as needed.
  • Utilize skills in data verification and problem solving.
  • Provide accurate breakdown of testing tasks and estimates for testing efforts.
  • Participate in SE COPs research committees and sub-committees.
  • Assist with technical interviews and talent recruitment.
  • Troubleshoot application errors and recommend solutions.
  • Hold team accountable for the client agile framework.
  • Other duties as directed.

Education:

  • This position requires a four year degree in Computer Science or related field and at least one year of professional IT experience, or three years of professional IT experience.

Experience:

  • Must have strong knowledge of automated test design and development principles.
  • Proven ability in relational database testing principles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in an object oriented programming language.
  • Strong knowledge of team-oriented and collaborative working environments.

Skills:

  • Understanding of Agile methodology principles preferred.
  • Software configuration management skills desired.
  • Continuous integration and deployment knowledge is a plus.
  • An understanding of Mobile Testing desired.
  • Proficiency in Test Automation Principles highly desired.
  • Active participation in the technical community preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Excellent listening and feedback skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and consensus-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal, telephone, and written communication skills.
