Risk Management Coordinator

Location:  Tempe, Arizona


POSITION SUMMARY
This position reviews risk related incidents and assists in identifying and investigating high risk issues using critical thinking to assess appropriateness in relation to standards. Identifies and reports incidents to appropriate regulatory agencies, and prepares potential compensable event reports for risk management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.  Manages and investigates actual and potential risk issues using department guidelines. Uses critical thinking and works collaboratively with other departments, management and Quality to determine of potential or actual risk level.
2. Assists with legal case management through documentation and maintenance of detailed and accurate records. May work with management and legal counsel to facilitate on-site interviews, depositions and document review.
3.  As appropriate, contacts Banner Corporate staff for assistance or notification purposes.
4.  Assists in the collection of statistical data and monitoring of significant events related to system-wide risk management.
5.  Assists in the mitigation of real and potential organizational risk system-wide by investigating and providing guidance on financial and medical legal loss prevention issues.
6.  Completes special projects as needed for the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge of business and/or healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field.
Must possess clear understanding of regulatory requirements.
Must have proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and related technology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience handling professional or general liability claims.
Two or more years lab experience, Medical Technologist, MLT or other clinical laboratory testing experience.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
