Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager (894197) Birmingham, England

Salary: GBP235 - GBP56000 per annum + benefits

Main purpose of the job 

To manage and direct all projects and program activities across the Group relative to Assembly and Automation Programmes ensuring each project achieves its targets and objectives.

To actively be invoived in Research and Development of automation welding and joining processes within Group /Divisions and advise on Best In Class Processes.

Principal duties and responsibilities list main duties or tasks to be performed, define key responsibilities of the job-holder, list any KPI's and or reports that the job holder wilt have to compile detailng the frequency required.

To Structure the Automation and Assembly Teams within NPI area to maximise performance and

Profitability

To assess skill sets within the NPI teams and Develop the department to meet company Customer Requirements across all sites

To set automation standards of equipment and the corresponding supply chain, to optimise cost

/deiivery and performance of NPI Automation assembly, welding and joining processes

Development of MIFA to support decision making process and equipment standards

Verification of capacity utiiisation for existing plant and equipment capacity and utiiisation reporting across all sites

Liaising with the Plant engineering teams on an sites to obtain feasibility for plant layout

Review actual attained performance pre and post SOP (activity sampling)

Review each every process and construct Yarnazumi (work balance) to get optimum performance

Providing technical input to the DFMEA / PFMEA preparation as required

Supply support for Run@Rate / process line trials with regards to cycle times and bottleneck processes (video analysis) for all new programs

Escalating risks / issues to program management in a timely manner

Attending project meetings as requested by the Program Managers

Support R@R trials with regards to process flow and measured performance

Support all Group Projects on all sites beyond SOP as required

Liaising with the PD leader and other team members to support new process Supporting the ECR process

Attending project meetings as requested by the PD Leader

Support R@R triags with regards to process flow and measured performance

Act as interface between project team and manufacturmg team for 90 days post SOP

Refine process flow to optimise output and quality

Liaise with projects on all sites to resolve process issues

                 Drive VE / VA activates including ownership for related KPI  ie (material reduction)

Drive and Participate in lessons learnt activity/feedback to plants

Participate as required in buy off activity across all sites

Automation / Process definition and tool layout and press allocation in conjunction with the plant engineering team.

Providing stamping tooling quotation support for cost, feasibility, forming analysis, die layout and timing for each specific plant

Liaising with the plant engineering teams to obtain feasibility, cost and timing input as required at the quotation stage

Providing ail necessary inputs to Purchasing team to enable automation quotations to be made

(Assembly, tooling concepts,  layouts etc)

 

Standard Hours – 08.00 to 17.00 Monday to Thursday, plus 08.00 to 13.00 on Friday

Salary – Circa £55k with a small amount of flex

Transport – car or car allowance after probation
