Recruiting for an experienced Head Chef to lead the team at an award-winning Gastro Pub/Restaurant on the outskirts of Scarborough, this is a full-time role offering competitive rates of pay with a bonus scheme for Head Chefs and the possibility of progression within the group.  The successful applicant will be experienced working with fresh, local and seasonal food and be comfortable cooking up to 140 covers on busy services and ideally come from a Gastro Pub/Restaurant background, they will be adaptable and able to fit into and lead an existing team.

The Company – This privately-owned Gastro/Pub Restaurant that has been established in the local area for over 50 years and is part of a small group of venues in the Scarborough area that offer a varying hospitality experience.  You will be part of a strong team that serves up to 700 covers per week over 7 days including offering a small function and event space that is developing trade with weddings, parties and other private events.   Progression is very big within this venue and you will have a fair chance to work your way through the group experiencing different styles and methods of cooking.

Role:

  • To manage and lead a small kitchen team in delivering 1st class service through cooking, presentation and service
  • To lead on the development and planning of the menus including costings and liaising with the local suppliers
  • Ensure all relevant kitchen documents are up to date
  • Comply with all Health & Safety, Food Safety and COSHH Requirements
  • Assist with recruitment process for future chefs and lead on the training and development
  • Lead on staff rotas and making sure all areas of the kitchen are covered through preparation and service times
  • Control of all stock management including purchasing and control of wastage
  • Control all operating expenses in line with the budgeted GP%
  • To work with the Operation Manger to set yearly budgets
  • To make recommendations and planning for changes to the experience and service standards

Requirements:

  • High Knowledge of Food Safety, Health & Safety and COSHH
  • Allergan Awareness
  • Experience in working with financial including GP’s and wage costings
  • Experience working at Sous Chef Level or Head Chef level
  • Relevant Catering Qualifications
  • Experience working in a similar catering venue
  • Access to your own transport

Benefits – The role of Head Chef is offering a competitive salary of up to £35,000 per year with a bonus scheme also for successful completion of targets and goals set yearly, you will be expected to work 5 out of 7 days and up to 45 hours per week, you will not be required to work split shifts, but you will need access to your own transport as the venue is located on the outskirts of Scarborough.  In the role you will have access to meals while you are working & be able to take advantage of discounts at the other venues in the area on both food and accommodation.
