Salary: USD80000 - USD90000 per year

Position Summary

The responsibility of a Account Manager, National Accounts is to build and maintain excellent relationships with client benefit practitioners and decision makers, provide and/or coordinate the delivery of all Company products and services to the client, and support Director(s) of Client Management and/or Case Manager(s) with senior-level benefit plan strategy, design and financial performance.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain effective and productive relationships with clients, prospects and carriers, including:
  • Managing multiple clients within an assigned book of business, maintaining regular contact and developing strong relationships with benefit practitioners and decision makers
  • Promoting growth of existing book of business while maximizing client retention
  • Meeting all service standards required for managing client relationships, including renewal timing standards
  • Providing assistance to team members regarding client plans and/or program coverage questions, benefit program adjustments and problem solving
  • Coordinate the delivery of Company products and services to clients, including:
  • Facilitating all plan renewal activities within the Account Management team, including Underwriting, other internal departments and ProView Account Managers, as applicable
  • Meeting with clients and key contacts (at minimum) quarterly to review plan performance and service levels
  • Conducting employee and/or manager focus groups as needed with appropriate reporting to the client
  • Providing clients with timely updates on industry trends and/or changes that can impact plan design, strategy, compliance, communication and/or administration
  • Conducting employee enrollment meetings
  • Developing a thorough understanding of internal process, team member responsibilities and internal timelines so services can be accurately and effectively presented to the client
  • Coordinating and managing administrative activity on client accounts (i.e. project management of implementations, client restructuring, enrollment and special projects)
  • Maintaining internal Company systems, policies and processes, ensuring administrative activities are completed
  • Designing client presentations, exhibits and reports, and developing communication strategies supporting client goals and objectives
  • Support Director(s), Client Management, including:
  • Participating in client strategy meetings, renewal meetings, book of business reviews and any other meeting supporting client service delivery
  • Participating in annual Plan Audits, presenting service delivery results and supporting the Director(s), Client Management with advice on strategies for managing cost, improving business results and enhancing plan value
  • Meeting with clients on a (minimum) quarterly basis, providing commentary on financial implications
  • Ability to travel hours at a time both in cars and by other modes of transportation
  • Able to carry materials weighing 30 lbs
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, with working knowledge of Publisher and MS Project

 

Experience and Education

  • Bachelors degree strongly preferred, or combination of applicable experience and education
  • Minimum seven (7) years experience working for a benefits broker or insurance carrier in an Account Management, Sales or Corporate Benefit Administration role
  • Active Life Agent License is required or must be obtained within three (3) months from hire date
  • HIPAA Certificate must be obtained within one (1) week of hire date
  • CEBS or other associated designation preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of health and welfare plans, including medical, dental, vision, STD, and LTD insurance with demonstrated ability to explain, apply and understand of analysis techniques, benefit plan design and employee benefit laws
  • Strong knowledge of all Health and Welfare plan compliance and reporting requirements including expertise with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, PPACA, Mental Health Parity, ADA and other industry legislation
  • Understanding of fully insured and self-funded plans, including basic underwriting strategies, stop loss coverage, risk management issues and associated compliance issues
  • Working knowledge of the administrative processes and procedures used by Human Resources departments to administer benefit programs, including benefit and payroll administrative practices
  • Demonstrated experience working with online benefit enrollment tools and knowledge of administrative processes
  • Demonstrated understanding of insurance carrier administrative processes and procedures, with experience serving as an advocate for clients and/or employees in resolving administration and claims-related issues
