Our Executive team is looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Senior Leadership team. Sonora Quest Laboratories is a joint venture between Banner Health and Quest Diagnostics and serves as the nation’s largest integrated laboratory system with approximately 3,100 employees serving more than 23,000 patients every day throughout Arizona. We are the market share leader in clinical laboratory testing in Arizona, performing more than 60 million diagnostic tests per year.

As a key member of the executive staff, the COO of Sonora Quest Laboratories provides direction and leadership to the following functional areas:

  • System Technical Operations
  • Core Laboratory
  • Technical Operations
  • Satellite Laboratory Operations – all STAT Labs & Satellite Laboratory Operations
  • Support Operations – Logistics, Client Services, Specimen Management, Test Referrals & Technical Logistics

The core purpose of this position includes:

  • Provides direction and leadership to all technical and support operations for Sonora Quest Laboratories. Functions as a liaison between Sonora Quest Laboratories and parent partners.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality standards and customer expectations are met within all technical and operational areas of Sonora Quest Laboratories. Performs timely and accurate management analyses, as well as development and reporting of key indicators, in all departments.
  • Meets financial goals and standards for operations performance set by the company to support quality and customer service expectations. Is accountable for related action plans consistent with strategy, goals and budget.
  • Provides Technical Support to Sonora Quest laboratory sites managed by Laboratory Sciences of Arizona, working with the Senior Leadership team to promote high quality and standardization of operations. Implements changes in operational direction as needed consistent with company’s strategic initiatives and best practice standardization goals.
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership, creates a positive work environment while supporting the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization through effective management, creative and innovative solutions to work situations, and by working collaboratively with pathologists and participating in system laboratory planning activities. Promotes Six Sigma quality throughout the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Eight (8) years’ of operational management experience. Clear understanding of financial statements and operations analysis.Good customer understanding, leadership skills, and analytical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Valid state driver's license.   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in a technical field. Master’s degree in management.
