OVERVIEW

 

The Group Account Director acts as the senior media management representative for their respective businesses, providing strategic oversight and leadership. The position requires a seasoned direct marketing leader with experience in growing and nurturing internal and client relationships. A significant part of the role is development of organic and new business growth.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead and manage key client relationships and programs / campaigns
    • Champion of thought leadership to meet and exceed client goals and expectations
    • Effectively assess client needs and work with team and vendors to identify and apply appropriate solutions and services to maximize client success, including development and implementation of media strategies, plans, added value ideas. Work across client services teams for cross-channel integration 
    • Collaborate with other disciplines, e.g. finance, to ensure effective day-to-day delivery of client deliverables, ensuring a first-class product designed to meet or exceed client expectations 
    • Work with team to develop  Account Plans to ensure client and agency business and financial success
  • Effectively motivate and coach the team to ensure professional development in sync with company, client and individual needs. Drive standards of performance and professionalism.
  • Lead best practice approach in direct response; package and deliver ideas and solutions to help expand client programs
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities as well as support new business pitches
  • Manage revenue and profitability for client portfolio
  • Identify and help develop solutions for process and tool improvements; overall responsibility for day to day operations including order placement, trafficking, results analysis, billing

 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Proven track record building strong and lasting relationships with clients
  • Effective at selling ideas, plans to secure new clients
  • Demonstrated leadership success in a previous relevant position
    • Ability to mentor, develop and train staff
    • Can articulate a clear vision to direct and maximize the team where all roles and responsibilities are well defined, understood and managed
    • Takes appropriate risks and makes tough decision when required
    • A dynamic personality who can manage within an entrepreneurial environment

 

 

  • 10+ years experience planning and buying direct response print (NP, Magazines) media, preferably with experience in other channels including shared mail (Valassis Red Plum, Valpak); Insert  media (catalog inserts, statement inserts, package insert programs), Digital (email, co-registration, display), Direct mail
  • Understanding of best practices and success criteria for effective direct response campaigns
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate insights and implications, develop recommendations
  • Working knowledge of analytics application, including segmentation, modeling, customer profiling, ROI
