Salary:  GBP8.5 - GBP10 per hour

Aspire People are an established education agency that are looking to recruit an experienced ICT Technician to work in a Secondary school in the Sutton Coldfield area of Birmingham.

The position is a 4 month contract, Monday - Friday around 36 hours per week.

It is essential that you have the correct qualifications and experience to work within an ICT department and have worked within a fast paced ICT enviroment preferably within the education sector.
You will be determined, enthusiastic, driven and adaptable.

All applicants will be required to hold a valid DBS certificate or willing to pay for a new application at the cost of £52.

Some of the duties that will be required are as follows:

• Managing the software library of the school.
• Maintaining an up to date catalogue of software available for use in the school
• Ensuring that software is easily accessible to staff and pupils
• Making back-up files and archiving materials where appropriate
• Ensuring that copyright and data protection laws are upheld
• Managing the computer resources of the school. This will include:
• Installing new computer equipment as appropriate
• Ensuring that hardware (and network cabling) is maintained and repaired as necessary
• Maintaining an inventory of equipment
• Assisting the ICT Coordinator in the appropriate deployment of hardware around the school
• Purchasing ICT related consumables in liaison with the ICT Coordinator
• Advising on the security of equipment and data
• Ensuring that Users are created and/or deleted as appropriate
• Managing the allocation of User Space/Printer Credits if appropriate
• Carrying out regular housekeeping to ensure that the fileserver storage is used effectively
• Implementing the school's network and Internet security policies
• Ensure that Internet connectivity is maintained and appropriately audited.
• Manage and promote the use of the school's Intranet.
• Working alongside the ICT Coordinator in the implementation of the whole school ICT policy
• Providing support for the use of software by teachers across the school
• Keep abreast of new developments in hardware and software.
