Contracts Manager (Civils) - Yorkshire Water Framework Contractor - Permanent Role

I am currently recruiting for a Contracts Manager to join the Senior Management team of a Yorkshire Water Contractor to work alongside 3 other CM's reporting into a Operations Manager and General Manager looking after the civils aspect of £24m pa turnover business. 

The Contracts Manager (Civil) will head up a civil biased team as part of the Senior Management Team to deliver a programme of works across the Yorkshire region. You will be part of the ongoing regional growth and will therefore be responsible for the development and further recruitment of a civil project delivery team to serve the region. The role will also include upward and downward reporting within and to the client providing clear and precise direction at all levels.

The Contracts Manager is accountable for all commercial aspects of the programme of work. Assisted by the Commercial team you will develop strong contractual and financial controls to deliver rigorous cost control and cash management for each project within your programme of work.

What you’ll be doing day to day

• Accountable for all activities of project & programme delivery, ensuring that health & safety, programme, design, procurement, financial control and site activities are managed to the highest standards throughout the project lifecycle
• Influence the operational delivery structure to drive outstanding performance
• Align to the client’s direction and needs, interpret contract commitments and to manage stakeholder expectations
• Responsible for ensuring the key deliverables within each stage of the project and programme are being administered to the highest quality
• Ensure that the proper interpretation of the design briefs are established and the delivered solutions meet and exceed the expectations of internal and external stakeholders
• Promote strong H&S behaviours
• Develop of strong team working relationships
• Provide a vision and define clear team roles, responsibilities and objectives whilst providing a hands-on approach to supporting the Project Team
• Manage people, resources and relationships to ensure effective delivery of programmes and projects
• Build trust with customers and stakeholders, keeping them updated on progress and acting upon feedback
• Empower others to innovate and drive continuous improvement
• Make sound, evidence-based decisions, assessing risks and identifying opportunity

What we're looking for in a Candidate 

• Proven leader with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve successful outcomes
• Civil background with experience of working with in the Water Industry (Non-Infrastructure)
• Experienced Project Management Professional
• Leads by example for Health, Safety & Environmental Controls
• Experience of NEC suite of Contracts
• Strong sub-contract management experience
• Commercially astute with demonstrable experience of delivering good P&L and Cash outcomes
• Excellent programme management skills – ability to delivery ahead of completion dates including project completion and close0-out documentation
• Quality management – experienced in the use of Inspection and Test Planning and Reporting
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Have good IT skills
• Strong team player but also able to work as an individual
