Configuration Manager required for multi national defence contractor based in Bristol
The Configuration Manager is responsible on behalf of the Product Definition UK Group Leader for the organisation and control of the data associated with Software and Mission Planning, providing CM support and process guidance to the Systems teams and best practice in the use of Windchill for document publication and Change Management achieving this through the utilisation of company tools, processes and procedures. You will be responsible for:
• Support LRQA Audits and conduct internal Group audits to identify improvement activities.
• Maintain the CM Plan. Yearly review in line with MCP10 – COP. Document any agreed deviations from policy agreed as part of a CMC.
• Develop and maintain the Design Signatories List (DSL)
• Develop, maintain and control the technical interface to customers and suppliers. Delivering defined support to meet contractual CM requirements and effective resolution to technical issues.
• Provide Configuration Management best practice to the Systems Teams
• Provide a level of Windchill support to the Systems, Mission Planning and Software teams. Encouraging their use of the tool for publishing documents and baselines into the PLM tool
• Manage the production of reports from the PDM tool to meet contract requirements.
• Attendance and active participation, supporting and influencing meetings. Includes the timely provision of reporting data or minutes to meet project needs and group process requirements. Includes admin duties associated with the software / Mission Planning CMC’s and support to CMC’s where the output from the team is required to be discussed as part of a technical review process
• Convey process to the project, ensuring adherence
• Agree and document any project deviations to process
• Develop and proliferate CM Best Practices. Advise non-technical areas on good practices for management of data.
• Maintaining, reviewing and approving Change Proposals for completion and accuracy.
• Publishing the baseline outputs from Rhapsody and Doors into PDM and maintaining the change process associated with those baselines
• Maintain the definition and integrity of the program’s product data within the tool.
• Monitor the respective Task Packages, managing the project support within timescales and budgetary constraints
• Support to Group training initiatives including the development and delivery of courses relating to Configuration Management as a discipline.
• Use synthetic data to produce cost and resource estimates for new and legacy projects or as part of a bid activity.
Skills/Experience:
• Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
• Good Team working/building ability
• High concern for order and quality
• High degree of IT literacy
• High Communication Skills – Verbal, Written, Electronic, across all levels.
• Highly Experienced knowledge of CM principles, processes and standards, nationally and internationally.
• High level of Company and Group processes with respect to CM and delivery of Projects.
• Commercial and financial awareness
• Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently
• Build and operate successful influencing Networks
