Senior Data Architect – Client Facing – London

Senior Data Architect required for a global technology company based in London to be responsible for taking an active technical leadership role on projects to deliver solutions to our clients, and also be heavily involved in pre-sales efforts and in mentoring the company’s technical staff. Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their hands-on technical skills, client-facing & sales skills and breadth & length of experience.

In this role you must be confident in engaging in a range of conversations with senior client management and staff, have the ability to lead discussions and workshops, have the technical ability to design and propose solutions to complex enterprise data problems and provide hands on assistance as required. These abilities will be utilised in all cycles of the delivery lifecycle from Proof of Concept development to troubleshooting large scale implementations.

The successful candidate will have strong skills in relational and ‘no sql’ solutions as well as the technologies that fully realise their potential including a working understanding of ETL and Streaming technologies.

Role Responsibilities

• Work alongside the company and Client Enterprise & Solution Architects in analysing, defining and refining appropriate data architectures
• Understand customer business goals and reflect these appropriately through the definition of technology and platform proposals.
• Advocate good development working practices including the appropriate application of “DevOps” working.
• Proactively review customer solutions and propose improvements and strategic direction, anticipating client goals.
• Working with commercial and sales management participating in reviews.

Key Skills

• Hands-on experience in enterprise organisations working alongside architecture and agile teams, centres of excellence, infrastructure and cross-functional operations teams.
• Good understanding of various Agile Delivery Models and able to understand how they impact Data architectures
• Excellent soft-skills particularly in client and stakeholder expectation management.
• Able to articulate client requests to cross functional teams “stepping in” as required to get the job done.
• Highly articulate and literate, with excellent levels of written and spoken English.
• Ability to maintain initiative and focus during negotiations.
• High levels of ownership and ability to work with nearshore teams to ensure good client outcomes
• Demonstrate how Continuous Improvement is embedded in working practices

Technical Competencies

• Proficient and competent skills with code/scripting.
• Domain data analysis and modelling skills
• Understanding of different architectural patterns (Micro-services, SOA, n-tier, etc) and how different data stacks can be used to best deliver them
• Good working knowledge of software versioning tools including GIT, Subversion
• Familiarity and appreciation of JIRA and Confluence and other productivity tools (e.g. Slack, Trello) or equivalent.
• Multi Operating System knowledge: Windows, Linux OS services.
• Understanding of how “data stacks” can be used in the context of continuous delivery
• Mastery of one or more of Oracle / DB2 / Postgres/ SQL Server, or equivalent
• Experience of one or more of Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Cloudant, ­Mongo, Cassandra, DynamoDB, etc

The salary my client is offering for this position IS £70-90,000 per annum depending on experience.
